What is the root cause of this system influenced by all elder person in almost all the families, what steps have respective State Govts. taken in this aspect to control dowry harrasment,dowry deaths, etc? Is the Supreme court found any alternative ideas to prevent this burning issue to the women's society in India?

1. I dont know if any cricketer has taken dowry.
2. Bad practices which is being turned as tradition or rule can never be abolished by making law.
3. to stop it we need to improve social conscious.

Dowry is officially banned and punishable in India. However, still people indulge in dowry in different name and no one bother to lodge official complaint about it and as such the law remains only in paper and dowry cases goes on.
