It's true that african americans are not always treated fairly, and they usually are very vocal about it, which is good. However, asians are usually more quiet, even when they are being treated badly. (i am asian) Even though we dont say any comment to the mean remarks, it kinda hurts. The thing is, when people say racism, most people think of racism against blacks, but is there racism against asians that is being ignored?
An example is that in my highschool, some people call me their "favorite asian." But if i called an african american person my "favorite african american" i could be like killed.

I think it is odd that people generalize. There a lot of countries in Asia and Africa.I do think it is weird that African Americans don't seem to mind.Did you know there are over 300 African dialects.
An in Asia there are many countries.Tons of diffrent cultures and sub-cultures.
But don't let injustice rule your life.Words can only hurt you if you except it.I understand.I am short guy.So I am always treated as less of a person. But I turned the other cheek.

Why would somebody kill you for saying that? But anyway what's so hurtful about being expected to be intelligent? I would be happy. It makes you do better because of the pressure. Which is obviosly better for your future. And maybe you don't quite fully understand how "African-Americans" are 'treated' because you are not one. Do you want pity or attention or something? Why bring this up? Asians on a whole are not the distraught and down-trotted.

I agree, y'all gotta make some more noise! The last big 'asian' upset I heard about wats that joke Sarah Silvermann made about how she got out of jury duty by putting, I love chinks. Also, you need to be a lil more quicker with the one liners, yes, people have come up to me & some other friends saying
1) You're not like the others (Really? Have you met the other 9.9 M others?)
2) Do you play basketball? (Do you play golf?)
3) You speak so well (No 1 liner IMMEDIATE verbal whooping!)

Basically, as long as you tell your friends what you find acceptable or not, they should respect it or at least be able to talk to you about it to dispel some myths, but 1st things 1st you gotta get loud/talk about it.

Asians have strong family connections, study and work diligently and generally do not need or pursue government handouts. Therefore they are of no use the left and the left is the party of making up race issues.

You are definitely over exaggerating on the "I could be killed" part of your statement. Also, like you said Asians are usually more quiet so if you spoke up the issue would not be ignored. Historically, when people think of racism in America of course people are going to think in black and white because those two groups make up most of our population and we share an obvious long and horrible relationship.

~of course you would give me a thumbs down for telling the truth. That just shows the cowardice that you obviously already have a problem with.

Although a comment like that isn't the nicest thing and is ignorant, if that's your biggest gripe, you probably aren't staring down any economic despair, physical harm, or insults associated with the racism you are facing (unlike many other forms of racism).

I'd say that your misfortune is slight. Since they are not being that bad, I'm sure you could just educate your friends about your feelings and they'd change their ways.

As for african americans, it'd be sad if they did the very thing that offends them, but I imagine that they are just hyper-sesitive to even relatively harmless comments because of all the baggage from mistreatment over the years.

white people pretend racism from non whites against them does not bother them too in public. they usually laugh it off or something then they go on here and post all types of crap about how they hate certain ethnic groups.

Racism can be against any "minority" race. Asian people need to get a backbone and speak up for themselves. It is your fault if you don't say that you were offended by certain comments.
