The dance is Turkish or perhaps Greek. The men squat while kicking out their legs. They have huge bushy mustaches and wear those huge billowy pants. The women dance in lines with scarves.

I know I probally sound crazy, but I can see this dance perfectly in my head. It's the kind of dancing you would picture while listening to Mozart's Rondo alla Turca. If you've never heard it, here's a link.

Form the description of the dance, it sounds like Ukranian folk dance called Gopak. (The second syllabus is stressed: GopAk) Sometimes it is spelled as Hopak because neither G nor H produces the right sound for Ukranian.

Bushy mustache was in fashion 100 years ago, so if you saw it in a movie or in a play maybe this is why. Turkey and Ukraine are geographically close, so the clothes that people wore has some similarities.

ha! i saw that type of dancing on fiddler on the roof (check it out in free movies on on demand)
anyway, its a greek wedding dance and im not sure about the lady above me^^^^^
but that might be what its called look it up in t=like a google search or something

it is zeybek and it is a Turkish dance.

actually its russian. the sailors used to do it. i think its called Trepak.
