Depends on which version.
For the Gamecube version, gameplay is along the same lines as The Sims (2) for PC or Harvest Moon; open ended, no real goals other than to interact with the characters. Events are time based, meaning once you do something, it takes a while for you to be able to do it again.
On the other hand, the DS version (Wide World?) is closer to Second Life. It has offline play like the GC version, but emphasizes online interaction with other players.
If you like a Sims or Second Life sort of game, I'd pick it up because there really aren't many console or handheld games in the genre, and it is a well done game. But, if you are looking for more of a traditional RPG or something that you can actually "win", I'd save your money.

It's kinda like the Sims for GC/DS but more limited. It's fun if you want a game to pop in and play for five minutes every day but it's not something that will hold your attention for a really long time b/c there really is no "end". Once you've collected all the items for the museum and paid off your debt there isn't much else to do. The GC version has hidden in it a few old NES games that are great so that makes it more worth getting than the DS version. Unless you're into the online aspect, then the DS version has more to offer.

I bought it and it looks like a really great game. However if you dont have a wifi connection you probably shouldn't get it. because i dont have wifi connection and without it, well there isn't really any game. And you'd ahve to spend money for whatever you need for a connection. But if you're willing to spend money for that too then by all means get it. It's really fun when you think about everything you can do on it. =]

No. There is no plot and all you do is collect stuff. Not at all. Dont do it. The "storyline" if there even was one could be synonymous with boredom itself. I will say it was a popular game, but I have no idea why.

It's a decent game, with bad graphics and ADDICTIVE gameplay. If you really get into it, you'll find it much more rewarding than simply playing it ocassionaly b/c it's just that type of game.

I like game. fun game. lots to do but take way too long to complete game unless you cheat by changing the clock on gamecube. can get repetitive since do chores for neighbors, catch bugs, catch fish, etc.

If it saves one animal, ...but maybe it will make people think about animals too. Do it, then you will have done something.
