Older people driving? I sometimes feel badly for them, I get frustrated when I get behind them, or beside them because they drive slow and they don't always look where they're going.. but when I see it's a elderly person I feel bad for getting mad.. But I don't think when someone gets to the point that they can't hear or see very well, they should stop driving.. I don't think I will drive if I get to that point. It's just to dangerous for them and other drivers... what do you think?

I agree completely bluedevil.. I just get scared when I see some of the older people who vere out of their lane and almost side swipe the car next to them.. It's not that I don't respect them. It's just I am afraid they will hurt someone or themselves.

You should have to take you're full test every year once you turn 65

I'm older than dirt and still driving. I usually stay off the road when traffic is at it's peak. I live in the country so that helps a lot. I will stop driving when I can't see or hear anymore or if they take my license away from me for some reason. I always try to drive defensibly. If I feel I'm holding somebody from passing me on a two lane road, I will pull over and let them pass. I hate people that tailgate.

I think that whatever your age, there should be periodic testing of driver competency. After a while on the road, we start to get slack. Some people just slip through the cracks and manage to get a licence when they're just plain incapable of driving responsibly. So to answer your question, I'm not going to suggest a specific age limit on driving, but there should definitely be competency tests. If a driver is a consistent danger on the road, their licence should be revoked, plain and simple. I'm tired of dodging cars manned by people who shouldn't be driving them at all.

I love that they have that feeling of freedom and independence as I have an 87 yr old Momma that drives and I am very grateful that she still can and still very well. The one thing that gets on my nerves are people carrying on mindless conversations on their cell phones while driving completely oblivious to people around them that will pull out in front of you or poke while deep in a conversation in front of you and I've seen this countless times. No older drivers don't bother me at all.

I think they impose a high risk of wrecks and the causing of them. On the highway, the speed limit could be 65 and some are doing 45! This can cause major problems! You also hear alot of news stories of them driving into buildings, deadly mistakes, etc. Their reaction time is not good, eyesight, hearing, etc.
