i like to wear eyeliner on the inner rims (the part of the eyelid on the bottom that's behind the lash line, it's the part that comes in contact with the eyeball, if that makes sense). what kinds of eyeliner are safe to wear here? i know that pencil works, but what about liquid eyeliner. i read that pencil lasts longer if you put a black eyeshadow on top...can you do that and not kill your eyes? i guess my basic question, is how can you safely and durably line the inner rims of your eyes?

most eyeliners are gentle enough to use around the rim of the eye. if using a liquid, i suggest applying it then holding your eye open until it dries completely(that way the liquid doesn't irritate your eye). you can also use a small makeup brush, wet it, and use your favorite eyeshadow as a liquid liner.

NO this is not safe it is never a good idea to apply any makeup to the inner part of the eye lid. I don't know that you care because everyone has their own oppinion but this is also very out of fashion a thick line above the upper eyelash line is what is in and adding an eye shadow will make it stick better, a thin light line on the bottom lid is also what is in fashion and gives a much softer clean apperance.

It's said not to be, but wearing it any other way would cause my eyeliner to smudge - but that's just me.

If you're too worried about putting them on the inner rims, try a colour like brown or grey underneath your eyes below the lashes instead...they are less harsh than black and if they smudge it will not be as noticeable.

As for liquid eyeliner, I'm not really sure. I don't really use it often.

It's not safe. Use eyeliner on the outside of the lids only. You are setting yourself up for infection, wrinkles before you are old, and possible injury when you apply it in a hurry.

Start experimenting with different ways to do your eyeliner safely, and I'm sure you'll find one you like. Go see a make-up artist and ask questions.

Well I think it's somewhat risky, like you can get eye infections, but practically any type of liquid eye liner is okay to use, just make sure that the make up doesnt come in contact with your eye, it'll sting a lot, but it wont do any damage. Just be careful and your make up will come out perfectly.
