Well, you're American, so I'd recommend Schneider. They aren't the best company in the world, but they have the best training program I know of. Put in a year at Schneider and almost any company will hire you.
They have yards all over the US and Canada

What ever you do, don't go to work for PAM Transport, Chocktaw, or any affiliate of this company. They will screw you over. I worked for them and it was the biggest mistake of my life. You might try USA Truck. They are a pretty good outfit. If you are not married yet, truck driving is a great job for the single man. Once you are into it for a while you might talk to who ever you are driving for and ask them about a lease plan. That's where the money is, but if you go this route remember that you have to keep that truck rolling to make any money at it. good luck.

I believe Swift Trucking has on the job employment. Check for their number in the phone book, I think they have a base office in Ca. There is also a truck driving school in southern Washington, just outside of Vancouver I believe.

www.layover.com/jobnet gives a comprehensive list. Including companies that offer training. FYI Walmart does not hire unless you have five years experience and most of there transporting is now subcontracted out.
