I, myself would rather have very thinly spread peanut butter and jelly.......(which you can get for a buck each)..........and can last a month if you spread it really thin...................my guess is that she liked the onions better than a number of things that she could have eaten on her bread, I myself would have rather had two empty bread slices with nothing in between.......anyway, the deal here is this.........yes, I'm sure your mother was self-sacrificing, as most of us are....

My mom used to eat onions the way we eat apples and she loved them. So I guess it depends on who you ask

Whilst I am touched by the sacrifice your mother made for you all, I am mostly touched by the fact that YOU have acknowledged her sacrifice for you all and are saddened by it. The very fact that you care about what she did for you makes you a very well brought-up kid. Your mom will be proud of you, (oninons and all). Well done!
