With enough time and patience, you can put just about any engine into any car. Some swaps are easy - some are definitely not.

The easiest swaps are always to swap engines into vehicles that originally came with them - either standard or as an option.
That way, if you need any parts, they are available at any auto supply house - all you have to do is specify parts for the specific model and the engine you have installed. Otherwise, you will be fabricating or re-engineering or purchasing aftermarket adapters - a lot of stuff - headers, mounts, linkage, transmission adapters and so on.

this question is way too general to properly answer . with enough time , money and effort you can put a Chevy big block into a smart car but would you want to ? narrow it down a bit .
