I have low iron levels because my diet isn't properly balanced and I don't always remember my multi-vitamin (I'm not medically pre-disposed). It means I'm often a little more tired than usual, but the only time this causes real problems is when I try to donate blood: if I haven't been eating rasins, salads (with whole, dark leaves such as spinach or romaine), drinking orange juice, or taking my vitamins I'm usually a point or so too low to give.

BTW, a high-calcium diet might interfere with your body's iron-absorption.

That said, please make sure you ask your doctor before you consider making any diet changes: your health is too important for you to risk following nothing but the advice of strangers!!
