Windows is probably trashed from a spyware infection. Happens a lot.

Your data is probably okay. If you don't have a techie friend, take to to geek squad or some other computer repair outfit.

Boot it from a recovery disk in the 3 1/2" drive.

This should put you in the diagnostic mode of DOS - from there you can selectively boot into windows through the autoexec file - by not selecting certain commands, you can determine if it's a minor small file failure or a major OS system crash.
Good luck. (BTW - this is often referred to as "The Blue Screen of Death.")

Note: If you have a virus - do not recover any files without running each through an updated virus program such as Norton or McAfee.

Here is ur Perfect Answer:

If XP won't start it may be due to a damaged boot sector or a missing or corrupt ntldr or ntdetect.com files.

To replace damaged ntldr and ntdetect.com you can copy fresh files from the XP CD using the COPY command. Boot with the XP CD and enter the Recovery Console(means put cd in cd rom of xp hten let it boot ,when blue screen pop up then click "R" it will lead u to Recovery Console .. press enter for all options) . At the Command Prompt type the following (where "X" is your CD-Rom drive letter, where c is ur windows drive ,change if it is another) allowing the files to overwrite the old files
COPY X:\i386\NTLDR C:
COPY X:\i386\NTDETECT.COM C:

To repair a damaged Boot Sector at the command prompt type FIXBOOT and press Enter. Then answer "Y"

ok this mite solve your problem... find your original operating sytems installation cd... eg, windows XP setup disk..
insert it into you computer and start it up.. if a screen dosnt come up saying someting like "press any key to boot from disk", then when your first booting screen come up when you start your computer press what ever button it says to "enter setup", for example mine is 'Delete', then you need to change you booting sequence to 'boot from CD'.

after that when you cd is booter either choose to repair or reinstall you operating system and see if this fixes it... you will not loose any data if you only repair you system... but if you completly re-install then you will.
