I've heard of this. two possible reasons: 1) it's a new form of birth control for you, spotting is common when you begin on a hormonal form of contraception. 2) you are very used to this form (have been on it for awhile) and your body expects to bleed at a certain point and is not allowed to do so so it sort of meets you in the middle. The 2nd possibility happened to a friend of mine when she was going on her honeymoon. to avoid her period, the doc told her to start right into her next pack of pills and she did but she had spotting anyway. It's nothing to be concerned about though unless it persists or is bothersome to you. in that case, talk to your doc!

You messed around with your normal cycle, so it's going to take a month or 2 to get back to normal. It won't be heavy bleeding, just spotting.
