He died. Aah and here the story gets interesting. He evidently was fooling around with a woman besides Mrs. Harding. There is a theory that he was poisoned, perhaps by Mrs. Harding. There is even dispute as to where he died. One theory says he died in Vancouver, Canada, but the death there was covered up because officials wanted him to have died in US territory, so it was officially reported that he died in San Francisco. There is a theory that he died of a broken heart, or even committed suicide, because huge scandals that took place under his administration were starting to be exposed. He was a very popular president while alive, he looked presidential, he said what the country wanted to hear--isolationism, after WW1.

If you are ever near Plymouth, Vermont, go to the Calvin Coolidge museum, he was the V.P. who succeeded Harding. I had the opportunity to talk with some very nice older women working at the museum, who had been little girls when Harding died and Coolidge became president. It is a very interesting look at the country's past.
