I was raised most of my life in Chicago,I live in Ca. now,and have so many good memories when I visit there,I feel a spiritual connection there, and feel so at home, and whats messed up is I can't afford to live there. It hurts.I even have dreams,as tho I was there. My parents are buried there, and I feel bad sometimes If I don't visit the grave at times.I love the city a whole lot.Sometimes if feels like I lost a million dollars.Am I the only one who feels this way?

I spent the first 35 yrs of my life in Chicago. I resent people who say they must simply forget where they came from, because that's simply not normal.

Your ties to your past are still there, and that's fine. I feel the same way you do every time I go back, which is on the average of once a year. What life could've been like if I'd stayed. How my family, friends and relatives are doing now. How my Cubs and Bears are doing, esp this past season. I still go to the Chicago Tribune website every morning just to see what the news there is.

But my life is here in Massachusetts because of a job that I couldn't get in Chicago, and there are no regrets. My family is happy here and we've created new friendships and connections here. However, if the opportunity to relocate back to Chicago ever came up, I'd do it. Chicago is home, and that's special.

I've been through Chicago a few times and don't miss it. I do miss Toronto though sometimes. But how can you miss the 20 below zero cold, the piles of snow, the falling icicles, the harsh blizzards and nine months of snow and rain after living here in California? Make a new life. I have memories too but I don't let them determine the happiness that I have now in the present. Make new memories and just remember if you are always looking behind you or always looking ahead, you'll never enjoy where you're at.

Chicago is a appropriate city with a impressive style of very solid issues approximately it, from procuring and eateries to universities to museums to the lakeshore in summer. I lived there 6 years -- 3 coaching and 3 on a similar time as attending regulation college -- yet as a small city fan i became delighted to flow away it, and infrequently flow to now. and that i do no longer omit it one bit.

I miss it because that's where I was born and I don't remember that much about it.
