88 matches Brazil 33 X Argentina32 and 21 draws.
Player to player they break even, but Argentinas coach Alfio "Coco" Basile is infinetly more experienced as a coach than Brasils Dunga. Basile has lead the Argentinian to 2 Copa America titles in 1991 and 1993. He was the coach of the 94 World Cup squad from Argentina. I think in the eventual, unevitable match-up Dunga would be out-coached, and Argentina would win. Sad but true. And the game you are refering to was in 2004, 3 years ago. The Copa America used to be played every year. Then it was every two years, then it wasn't played for 4 years, then it was every two years again. Then it was every year, then it was every two years, then they didnt play it for 8 years, then it was every three years, then it went to every four years, and then every three again , then every two, and now every three years. No joke. This will be the 42nd edition since the 1st tournament was played in 1916.
Brasil has only won the Copa America 7 times while Argentina and Uruguay won it 14 times each.

According to the World Cup page. They have played 26 times. Brazil is 11-9-6 with 43 goals against Argentina's 32 goals. But I think that they have played more times than this.
