CHARCOAL WAS GOOD ANSWER..
ALSO PLACE IN CLOSED CONTAINER/ BOX WITH BAKING SODA OR VINEGAR.

ALSO THE DRYER SHEETS ARE GREAT... ESP IF THE ITEM CAN BE PLACE IN DRYER FOR A LITTLE WHILE..

OPEN AIR WITH SUNLIGHT IS GREAT.

FABRIC SPRAY IS GREAT AND CAN THEN BLOW IT WITH HAIRDRYER ON HEAT SETTING TO GET THE ODOR WORKED INTO THE ITEM.

DRYER SHEETS CAN BE LAID ON ITEMS AND HAIRSPRAYER HEAT CAN BE USED TO WORK SMELL INTO THE ITEM ALSO.

GOOD LUCK.

i believe if you put a fabric softener on it (them) for about 2-3 days that it would really lighten the smell for you or if it wont work that day and it si waterproof try soaking that might work too.....but if u can becuz of it taking paint or other things off dry the other way i use this for every drawer i have in my home and i dont smell smoke or anything on my clothes anymore

Though I haven't tried it myself, I'm hearing a lot about "Febreeze" for getting rid of unwanted odors.
