It is not censorship because there are laws against obscene language in order to maintain an orderly society. I can't go out to my neighbor and call him x, y, z names... there are also slander laws.

It really is censorship, but here's how it is justified:

The Courts have refined the 1st Amendment right to freedom of speech and of the press, saying that government may only interfere with this right when there is a compelling state interest.

Allegedly, the compelling state interest in allowing the FCC to fine broadcasters for using curse words is to protect our children. Personally, I think that's a bunch of garbage, but that is why and how.

One of the other keys to this equation is something called the Chevron doctrine (named after the case in which it was established). The Chevron doctrine says that when a law is vague, like the law that established the FCC's control over broadcasting, the administrative agency has great latitude to pursue a scheme of regulation, like fining broadcasters for so-called obscenity.

Hope that helps.

absolutely, i'd say it relies upon extra on a persons'' beliefs about cursing. i don't have a difficulty with it, yet there are absolutely circumstances for it and circumstances at the same time as it really is irrelevant. And, at the same time as i do not truly like censorship in any type, i don't have a wide problem with censoring cursing on television; truly some human beings do not pick their youthful ones to hearken to it, it really is excellent, plus anymore it type of sounds like a smutty-chuckle type of element at the same time as human beings curse on television, and tv pros look to inspire that mentality...

Words that are offensive, indecent, immoral, abusive and oppressive must be censored because these are violations of the constitution. Government agencies must be required to properly monitor curse word particularly on TV. movies, newspapers and other publications.
