The US was founded on principles of liberalism and personal freedoms; ideas created by what were known collectively as the Philosophes of the Enlightenment, a period during the 18th c. when questioning of authortarian institutions like the monarchy, the church, and miltiary began to surface. These were European philosphers who had new and radical ideas about poltics and government. They believed it should be minimal, should be derived from the people, and should serve to protect the freedoms of the individual. The Philosophes (Locke, Hobbes, Rousseau, Voltaire) captured the interest of the founding fathers who were uncertain what kind of government to install in the new American nation, Thomas Jefferson believed strongly in the ideas of governement for the people and personal liberties. He wrote the Declaration based on these ideas, the rest sort of went for there. That's a simple analysis but it's a place to start from.

Communism came from a different type of philospher, Karl Marx. Marx believed in a classless, worker controlled system all having a function in serving the state, not the individual. His ideas were not intended to stifle human freedom but rather believed freedom derived form serving each other (the state) instead of the self. It was a direct response to capitalism which he viewed as debasing and lacking virtue because it inspires people to exploit one another for personal gain. Communism as we know it today arose from various branches of interpretation of Marxist theory. In essence though, it is built upon a system of governement where the people have little to do with the political process (antithesis of democracy) and serve only the state. Modern day North Korea is a perfect example of this. Underlying all of this is the idea that capitalism and free market societies corrupt pure men by instilling in them greed and personal ambition to the detriment of the state.

So in essence democracy fourished here in America because it was an excellent testing ground for a different form of government that until then had existed only as a theory. Communism flourished in Russia as a response to centuries of monarchial rule (the Czars) which largely oppressed their populations. In both cases the idea was to shed a single authoritarian rule (King George III or England Czar Nicholas I or Russia) in favor of radically differenet systems of government intended to better the plight of the people.

Both ideas are a lot more complicated than that but it's a $.50 tour. I would suggest looking up some articles on both at www.wikipedia.org

Well the US has big corporations with a lot of money and in communism those corporations would be own by the government. So those big corporations came up with a business called cold war which whole purpose is to create a threat to justify government spending in armament for protection. Clearly protecting their interests. Turns out that business was perfect for many years until the threat disappeared. So they came up with another even better, NEW and IMPROVED they called it terrorism. You see Communism is actually something that can be stop but terrorism not so now they have a business that will last forever.

America was created by people from england did not accept being controlled. They made the US what it is today. Yes they invited a lot of other people here too. Some helped, some didn't. Fortunately the freedom lovers prevailed so far. Now things are deteriorating. Thanks to the disease of liberalism, I don't know how long we can survive. Russia has always been controlled by one czar, dictator, etc. and the people are used to it.
