I'm going to assume that by "fish water," you actually mean fresh water, in which the speed of sound is 1435 m/s. The speed of sound in salt water is 1500 m/s. My reference doesn't specifically say, but I assume that by "salt water," they mean more specifically sea water. The speed of sound is faster in water with a greater salinity, such as the Dead Sea.

Adding fish will speed up the process, but not by a lot. If you do plan to add fish during cycling, you should get very hardy fish because they might die during the process and the hardier the fish, the better it's chances of surviving. If you really want to speed it up, I suggest you turn the heater on and boost the temp up a little bit. The extra heat will help create more bacteria, which will create moreammonia, which will create more nitrites. so the process is faster. Pure ammonia is pretty hard to find. it's not found most places because it is highly dangerous and can be easily used to create explosives. BUT, it can be found at some places. Do you have an ACE hardware store anywhere near you? If so, you should check there. they usually have it. Hope i helped. Good Luck!
