you might want to check if it is partitioned. you can do this by

go to control panel

if in category view(default for xp [not sure for vista]): performance and maintenance->administrative tools->computer management

if in classic view(default for 98 and before): go to administrative tools->computer management

once there go to disk management under storage (if it is not partitioned it will be gray)

if it is not partitioned right click your drive and format it.

If this is not the case than i cannot help you sry, hope this helps

What OS are you working? If that is something below residing house windows XP, it rather is a threat that the drivers might have been broken and you need to reinstall them. they could be placed on the CD/Floppy that got here lined which incorporate your force, and in lots of situations you could acquire them on line. (it rather is this variety of discomfort on residing house windows ninety 8 =P)

click start->right click my computer->left click manage->left click disk mangement

Make sure you have your flash drive in, then right click on anything that doesnt' have a drive letter (and is around 1GB) and assign it a drive letter and format it.

Also could be you have an odd ball USB drive and it requires a driver.
