In your opinion, what would be the effect -- positive or negative -- on how we go about selecting our presidents? Is it a worthy reform to consider? Why or why not?

The only reason there is a length limit is that currently Canadians do NOT know when their next Federal election will be, as we do not have fixed election dates. Because of this, campaigns are limited because they are set usually within 2 months of being called. This does NOT prevent political ads from appearing outside of election times, so in theory the campaign could last indefinitely. In fact, this system doesn't seem to work as Canadians are looking for set election dates similar to the US. You also must remember we do NOT vote for our Prime Minister, they are whoever is the leader of the political party that wins the most seats in the House of Commons, so it is hard to compare the US Presidential election to the equivalent of a Congress race in Canada.

As for Canadian reforms for elections, look into gag laws and spending limits. Legally during an election, I am not allowed to personally spend over a small set amount to promote one or more issues I find important. This was to prevent special interests, but also silenced any group who wanted to promote an issue.

I dont comprehend relating to the canadian equipment yet I do think of the campaigns run overly long and in the event that they have been shorter... properly politicians wouldnt might desire to advance a lot funds. in the u . s . a . i think of by potential of the time a newborn-kisser runs for place of work then settles into place of work, then mid term they get some issues performed, then they start up campaigning lower back 3/4 of how via their term. Senataors spend some million/3 of their term settling in or campainging and with the two year term for reps its in all hazard extra like 2/3 of their term.

The Canadians are better educated than us Americans....so obviously this is a good idea.

Serious campaign reform is needed in the USA. The campaigns are too long, there is way to much money, and the corporations have too much influence in our Democratic system.
