Howie Day is pretty easy for beginners--Collide or She Says. Be Like That by 3 Doors Down was one of the first songs I learned to play so that one would be good. A lot of Goo Goo Dolls songs are acoustic but you would have to change the tuning on your guitar for a lot of them. Also Drive by Incubus. Anything by Jack Johnson. Heard the World by OAR is a good one. Wonderwall by Oasis. Swing Life Away by Rise Against. Dashboard Confessional but you have to change the tuning for a lot of those too. That's really all i can think of. You can get pretty much all of the tabs for these songs at www.ultimate-guitar.com.

The beginning of the song "Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness" by the band Rhapsody has a really nice acoustic intro, it switches to an electric guitar a few minutes in. Just a little background, they are a Symphonic Metal band, which means that they play metal songs usually with an orchestra in the background, their music sounds sort of like the Lord of the Rings soundtrack.

Yeah, check out some of John Frusciante's (guitarist from the red hot chili peppers) solo work. There is a site called jftab.com that has the tabs and at johnfrusciante.com there is an entirely acoustic version of his album shadows collide with people. He is my favorite artist by far and alot of it is good for people just starting out.
