Try replacing the fuel filter this time. And make sure you use an additive like fuel injection cleaner in the tank every few tankfulls.
When you leave a car sit for long periods, the gas breaks down, leaving a lacquer on all the internals...
Then, don't forget...a plugged catalytic converter can cause loss of power too. If it continues on a more frequent basis, look into that too!

I wonder if this Jeep has some kind of ignition spark retarding smog feature when you put this in fifth gear. Try this:
Park in your drive way with the parking brake on securely and block the wheels so the vehicle can't move. Start the engine and push the clutch all the way in and hold it down for the whole procedure so that the clutch will never engage. Put the vehicle into first, second , third and fourth gears and when you get to fifth see if the engine tries to stall, miss or engine RPM slows down. If it stalls in fifth or sputters etc., there must be a spark limiting switch that is blocking ignition timing/spark advance or fuel flow etc. which could be causing the power loss in fifth gear only.

It could also be a weak fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator.... if you have cleaned the fuel injectors and changed the fuel filter, then it is something else.... I had a chevy do what you described, I changed the fuel pump and it was fixed.

You fuel filter is probably plugged up, most likely with water. To fix it properly have your fuel tank drained and new filters installed. There is usually one on the tank and one in the line, sometimes there is another in the carb or throttle body if it's injected.

properly... it may well be distinctive issues. Clogged air clear out or air grant, wiped out spark plugs, clogged gas clear out, or a vacuum line disconnected some the position. It would not smoke does it?
