I saw some "midnight black" tint at wal-mart the other day that said it was 2 1/2 %. I live in Mississippi and as far as I know our limit is 35%, but I always figured that what they sold out there had to be legal. Is it?

I have a 96 GMC Sierra Ext. Cab. Cant tint back windows with anything because it will definitely be too dark. Just looking for front windows. So then the 2.5% tint will get me a ticket?

Not entirely true. Keep in mind Walmart is a Store Chain... they are a store to make money not ethics.

Check out the following site. You can always contact your county sherriff's office online or give them a call.

I understand that you want to tint the windows yourself. But, the best and safest route if you are not sure about the tint is to go to a local tint shop and ask them. And, as for being legal or not being legal tint sold at Walmart or any other store for that matter, they can sell any tint they want, due to the fact that you the user hold the responsibility of insuring it is legal in your state or not. That disclaimer is on most of those tint packages. In Florida where I live you can tint the rear windows black, but the front and windshield strip have to be of the much lighter shade. All tint shops know what is legal in your state and will also apply a legal sticker in your door jam as long as you ask for the legal stuff. They can tint with whatever you ask for, but it is up to you to insure you are within the law, not them.

I asked the guy at the auto store the same question. Yes its legal but u cant use it on certain windows, such as the front and if i remember correctly driver and pass. window. ask someone, (although if your walmart is anything like mine good luck finding someone to ask) Try an auto parts store they know usually or just call a local tint shop and ask them the limits. Best of Luck. BTW that stuff is really annoying to put on if its ur first time.

it does NOT have to be legal for them to sell it. dark tint can be used for anything, not just vehicles. be sure you look deeper than what you have, if you have a 4 door car, for example, the rear windows can be darker than the front.
