Never trust the gap on a new plug. They are usually close, but rarely accurate. The gap for your car will depend on whether you are using platinum plugs - these use much smaller gaps that conventional plugs.
The basic rule is: the bigger the gap, the larger the spark. This is great, but also, the bigger the gap, the more likely it is to misfire, as the coil has less time to charge at higher rpm, and so the smaller spark might not be able to make the jump. The factory has already tried different gaps, and the one they list is the ideal compromise for power and longevity (making sure that the plug won't start to misfire too soon as the electrode slowly burns away with use.)

Here is a piece of good advice,DO NOT buy the cheapest plugs the parts store sells cause the cheaper the shorter the life and they are hard enough to change as it is.Your owners manual says what plug to use as a replacement and ask the parts store what gap is recommended. .035 is the gap used when cars had distributors with points and a separate coil .HEI dis. ranged in between .045-.060. and on your car you have coil packs for each cylinder so go with the recommended gap by the manufacturer

Look under the hood, you will find a white label that will give the proper spark plug gap for your vehicle. This label also will give other info, such as engine size in liters, and emission info. It may be on the underside of the hood, or on the inner fenderwell,or possibly on the radiator top mount/shroud. There MAY be more than one white label, so read each of them, you will find the info you are looking for. hope this helps.

.035. yes different. the larger the gap size the harder the coil and plug have to work to produce a longer spark. could result in a coil burnout an plug failure. most spark plugs when purchased for your vehicle are already gapped.

it should say under the hood on the engine specs or in the book but a good guess is .045...and yes there is a difference... different cars will vary on compression and on coil strength.
