its ben passed down through the ages means that it came from a long time ago and someone passed it onto their kids and on and on until it reached today. i hope i helped.

Something that is transmitted from one generation to the next. For example, folklore, myths, legends, traditions. All these have one important thing in common - the are all oral and they are passed down from one person to the next. Passing things down orally through the ages sometimes alters the forms as the teller sometimes hypes, adds, subtracts details. Hope this helps.
