I just bought a 79 k5 blazer with a 5.7 350 and 6" lift and some 32's, I wanna take it out and play in the mud, get it dirty and have fun, and tips or suggestions? I am new to this whole thing.

ALSO to put it in 4WD, do I lock the wheels, when put it in L2 or L1 while having the 4wd in nuetural then I can switch it or do I put the regular in N then move the 4wd or what?

Make sure you have another vehicle with you the first few times you take it off-road, especially in mud. Until you get used to it, there is a good chance you'll get stuck, and a buddy with a snatch-rope (or a winch, if you're lucky!) can make all the difference. And take it slowly at first - you have a good chance of tipping it over with that lift kit and tyre combo - high centre of gravity plus lots of traction equals upside-down (and lots of $$$.)

Shift the trans into neutral. Lock in your hubs if you have to. Then shift the transfer case into 4H or 4L. Then use the regular trans to drive. The 4WD shifter operates the transfer case - meaning that is where the power is transferred to the rear wheels, or to all 4 wheels. It's like having a second gearbox directly behind the first one, but with only 2 gears (4H and 4L), and the ability to cut power to the front. You usually need to stop before shifting this - no synchro.

Only one tip...Don't! Unless you have a large bank account. Blazers, and all the other pre-suv's, were designed as light duty vehicles, with four wheel drive for "unusual" situations to get out of trouble, not to intentionally find trouble.

I hope you have a second vehicle if you try it...

don't get over confident in the mud...good way to get buried...make sure the front and rear axle vents have plenty of length of hose on them or you could end up with water in them...wash the truck completely after you are done playing...

Make sure it isn't your everyday vehicle
