I've recently read that in the Mayan culture they predicted that the world will end on December 23, 2012. Do you believe any of this? And does it have anything to do with the 23 enigma?

We may be in for a bumpy ride for the next couple of years, but I'm not expecting the end of the world, provided we humans don't do something to cause it. When it comes to understanding time and space, the Mayans are at the top. Here is what some of them are saying about the coming times.

The Mayan Indians regard their beliefs as both a science and a religion. Their discoveries are not done in a lab but rather by tapping into the cosmos via the mind. Through the extensive use of meditation, they are able to discover and track planetary movements as well as space anomalies such as black holes. They used this information to construct a calendar so accurate that no present day calendar can rival its accuracy. They also use this information to predict future events.

According to some Mayans, this date marks the end of the long count of their calendar; Set to end on a winter solstice (12-21-12). On this date, our Solar system will be center aligned , in the Milky Way, ninety degrees relative to the black hole, at its center. Our sun will be centered in a position called "The Tree of Life", as it does every 25,800 years. We will have exited the forth dimension and entered the fifth dimension. This date also marks the end of the Mayan "Great Cycle" of the long count, which is equivalent to 5125 years. We exit the age of Pisces and enter the age of Aquarius.

In this position, unusually violent sun spot activity will cause a pole shift. Earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods will run ramped. Significant loss of life will occur. Earths magnetic field will temporarily collapse. Humans will be exposed to a cosmic energy that will facilitate enlightenment. In this state of higher consciousness, we will recognize that all matter, plant, animal, mineral are bound as one. This realization will mark the end of wars for a time. People will be able to connect to the essence of god (vibrating energy) like only the most enlightened can.

The date marks a goal to be reached. Evil forces will make every effort to keep humanity from reaching the date. These evil forces are those entrenched in the third dimension, in the Material world. They have no desire to leave this age and wish to continue exploiting and endangering all life for material gain.

Wars just prior to this date could be most devastating, with a loss of as much as 2/3 of our population anticipated. The resulting man made environmental damage could make life inhospitable for those who survive.

Humans have freewill, Man's future is not set yet, nor predictable:
STRIVE FOR PEACE

Another name for it is "The Shift", and no the world isn't going to end..I believe like many others that there will be a awakening ,spiritually.. Also we will start the transgression into the 4th dimension... Time has been speeding up since the 1980's and when we hit 000.13 the shift starts...Some believe that the Earth will stop and start spinning in the opposite direction.. Don't know about that one.. I personally don't hold much thought about the date and the 23 enigma...

"The Hopi and Mayan elders do not prophesy that everything will come to an end. Rather, this is a time of transition from one World Age into another. The message they give concerns our making a choice of how we enter the future ahead. Our moving through with either resistance or acceptance will determine whether the transition will happen with cataclysmic changes or gradual peace and tranquility. The same theme can be found reflected in the prophecies of many other Native American visionaries from Black Elk to Sun Bear."

No. Don't concern yourself with prophecy. Ever. The Mayans based that prophecy on a calculation that still eludes us. If nukes were exchanged that day, would you say the prophecy was correct? Well if you would, then you'd be wrong, because the prophecy also predicts a glorious rebirth of the world and the gods coming to set things right.

There's no sense in concerning yourself with escatology. I'd be more concerned about global warming, nuclear exchanges, and asteroids hitting the earth than mayan gods working their humana humana magics on us.

Two words. No and no. Am I gonna believe a race who no longer exists? Looks like the end of their world came a long time ago. There is no "enigma" to the number 23. Just a lot of hoo ha.

From what I understand this is a common stereotype.

What people are referring to is the end of the Mayan calendar.
Typically the end of a Mayan calendar would refer to signficant change. Each Mayan calendar represented a theme. At the end of this one we will be moving into the theme of spiritutality.

Well, a joke I'm starting to hear going around is that when the Mayans built the calendar, they simply just ran out of space on the rock. ☺

Jesus basically said "You will not know the time nor the hour" and so I can't believe that the rest of sentence was "except for the Mayans, they know when."

hahah well, i dont think the world is going to end but the world will start anew. I know that most of the world is gonna be flooded. Those who werent able to adapt to the changes will die. But those who could will live up to 100+ year old. it's a way for mother earth to revives her self. We had harm her long enough. Well i hope that helps.
