My oscar sits in the same spot all of the time. It wont move. Does anyone know why? And its not dead. It only eats when its dark.

It's not weird at all! Oscars are very moody fish. If the tank is not big enough...at least 55gals for 1 Oscar(they can get up to 12-15 inches long when fully grown). Anyway, if the tank is not big enough they will get depressed and literally lie on the bottom of the tank until they die. They will do this if the water is to cold(the are from the amazon you know). I have also found with all my Oscars they like to have aquarium salt in the tank.

It's hard to answer that question without knowing more about your setup, but I would suggest looking at your water quality and tank size as a starting point. One oscar alone should have at least a 55 gallon tank, so if your tank is smaller than this it may be causing problems. Test your water for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. Your readings should be ammonia-0, nitrites-0, and nitrates-20 or less. If your readings do not turn out this way, you have found the problem! Frequent water changes will help improve the water quality.

Hope this helped!

That is a little odd even for an Oscar, a fish known for strange behaviors. Give him time and he'll most likely find some other way to amuse / worry you.

AS long as he can swim normally and is eating, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Look into getting him a mate he may need some excitement in his life, its bound to create some kind of action for him it should also help with the food issues, if that does not work then he's just like mine which has a personallity complex, very unsociable and is to lazy to do anything else.
You could also look into a bigger tank, they like to get into mischief and make a mess!!! lots of weed and smaller rocks for them to muck around with.....
