Business casual is usually just a nice way of saying casual. On the first day, I would say pants (or gauchos) a nice shirt (something fun, not just a button down shirt) and some cute but functional shoes. Check out what everyone else is wearing, and just try to blend in with that. To some places business casual means no jeans, and other places it means jeans and t-shirts everyday. If all else fails, just ask your new supervisor to clarify the dress code, or ask for a written policy. Good luck on your first day!

I own a small finance company and to me it means: a skirt or slacks with a nice blouse, No jeans, nice shoes No tank tops, a strappy blouse okay only if accompanied by a jacket. Some employers require "no Bare legs". For me if bare legs then the shoes should be either a strappy heel, mule or pump. But if your legs are totally white wear hose. Dress smart as you never know whom might show up at work and you want to give a good professional impression.

I would probably say, casual dress pants, with sweater sets or blouse...Jackets aren't necessary but a nice accessory if clients are around

Basically be clean and presentable...especially on your first day. If you will be face to face with clients it is better to be over dressed then under. Not to mention the first few weeks it will give you a taste of what their "business casual" is.

It's always safer to dress up than dress down. Wear a nice dress shirt... tailored pants, maybe a cute blazer. Pretty much anything from clubmonaco.com would look good i think. See how people dress, ask if you have to, then dress accordingly afterward.

Unfortunately in recent years the definition has been more casual than business.

DO NOT WEAR WORK OUT CLOTHES! I would venture to guess that that loan officer was returning from working out and hadn't changed.

Business Casual is: slacks or a skirt/ a button down blouse, nice swearter set, or shirt and slightly casual jacket/ closed toe dressy shoes.

I wouldn't go in workout clothes. Just look nice. You can wear nice pants, nice shirt, anything that looks well kept and is well made.
