The H22 first appeared in 93, 92 only had the f22 and h23. And yes it will drop right in. All you would need to do is some extra wiring for the vtec solenoid and some extra goodies. Either JDM h22 or H22a1 is the best way to go. H22a4 is from a 5g OBDII and some parts from a 4g h22 would be needed.

Its pretty much as direct of a swap as its going to be.

I recently swapped my H23A1 for a H22A in my 94 Prelude Si, so yes it is possible. It is pretty simple if you know what you are doing. You won't need any extra parts other that the wires to hook up the VTech. You will be able to use the same motor mounts and will not have to worry about making any modifications in order for the H22 to fit the chassis or tranny. I highly recommend the swap. P.S. Jette is retarded for telling you what they did. Trust me that person is retarded. For example, you are talking about the 4th gen not the 2nd or 3rd gen. If you have any further questions you could check out my Prelude website.... www.socalprelude.com

The 1st gen of H22A appeared on the....er.......honda prelude! It is also the stock engine for the 92 prelude. If you'll be mounting theis baby on your 93, you may need to refabricate some brackets as some of the mounts on the chasis on the 93 is NOT designed to accomodate the 2nd gen H22A. Having said these, there is no need telling that you'll be better off with the 2nd gen. Not only does it boost an added 38 ponies, vtec kicks earlier and cuts off at around 8000 rpm. As for the cost.....since I'm here in the Philippines, I assume it is much cheaper here as Japan is just a neighboring country of ours. It cost around 200,000 pesos or roughly around USD 4167 for the whole engine, including the big brakes on all four wheels. You may need to chip-in additional moolahs for the mounting, re-fabricating, new belts, new oils and filters and the tuning...........for it to perform in its topmost condition on its present state. Hope this helps!!

I wont be able to give you everything you want to know but Hmotorsonline has engines and is as fair as ANYONE online so I definately suggest checking them out. as far as install costs, it all depends on who you go to. But i will say that it is IMPERITAVE for you to get it done right the first time, if not you'll pay for it soon enough down the road.
