I want to sweep concrete floors and need something to pick up the dust.

The commercial products are made up of sawdust and 'red' oil. You can make the same thing yourself using those items. I know Ive swept a lot of floors with this stuff... its very good at picking up the 'very fine' dust.

Try something rubberized, I have used these kinds of things and they all seem to be rubbery. It must have something to do with the static electricity that is so prevalent in dust, and I have also seen plain water used to keep the dust down, but not so much as to produce mud, that way it can be swept up as a solid....
