I need to know the procedure on how to get the percentage of 160,000 in a 2,490,692. I kinda have an idea on how to do it. I just want to make sure.
I take it I had to take the 160,000 divided by 2,490,692 = 6%?

You are correct - however you included another step in your head. You should divide the 160,000 by 2490692 to get 0.064 and then multiply by 100 to get the 6.4% or as you rounded to 6%.
