Its right you may not require a OS CD. However there must be a restore CD or something like that. Insert the CD and restart your laptop (make sure it boots up from the CD and not from Jard disk). Follow the steps described in your user guide or the the way the restore CD is asking.

You will get factory setting recovered.

If you have not reformatted or reinstalled the CD, then the App should be in the start menu, under system tools, if not then it's the recovery program that is accessed upon booting the PC... Good Luck, and check Dell's Site for specific recovery instructions.

Sure - just follow exactly what it says on the paper - which is probably to use the recovery CD. Sometimes the contents of the CD is stored on a partition of the hard disk.

You will need a set of recovery disk to do this.I dont no of any system that you can do this to without the disk.Although you can reformat your hard drive and wipe it clean but then you need a disc to install the new operating system..You can order the disc you need from dell if it didnt come with them i had to order these for my hp desktop in order to fix it and it took 12 disc to do the recovery and reinstall...But you can try to do a system restore and crank it back to an earlier date it may fix your problem..
