well I'm 31 weeks and i have everything I need already. (bought everything with incometax return)
I will probly get more onesies and and bottles still but if i had her today I'd have enuf to do us.

I bought everything around week 27 or so.

with my first baby i didnt have anything till 3 weeks before he was here (i got everything via baby shower/hand me downs)
so with the 2nd and 3rd I just had to refresh my bottle supply) (but with #4 my hubby let me get all new stuff)(this ones a girl)(the first 3 were boys)

I'd say start when you want to and have the money! and I'd advise starting with the have to's not the oh thats so cutes!
have to's
a place for the baby to sleep (crib/bassenet)
a swing/bouncer thing (very very handy)
a car seat (5 point)
oneies/tee's/gowns/a few outing outfits
Reciving blankets
a change of sheets for the baby's bed
bottles (even if your gona breast feed)

and after you have all that then you can go for the oh thats so cute $20 outfit they'll wear for 10 min puke on and never wear again cause they out grew it before you washed it.

also bibs and baby towels are a waste of your money !in vest in paper towels for bibs (usually only needed during feeding anyway) and a few real soft regualr towels and rags for baby to use (baby ones are small and unabsorbant)

I would wait until after your baby shower - if you are having one. If you are not having a shower I would start to purchase the big things around the 6th or 7th month. I had all my shopping done by the middle of my 8th month because I had a planned c-section at 36 weeks. A lot of moms are not comfy during the final month so wish they had finished the shopping early.

Anyrate - long story short, my advice is big things end of 6th - 7th month, little things in the 8th month.

Also, one thing my husband and I did was each week we would both purchase a $10-20 gift card. Once the baby came we have yet to spend a dime on formula or diapers since we had them all saved up.

Good luck on your pregnancy

Just a suggestion; my husband and I started buying one "big ticket" item a month starting at about 4 months. The crib one month, a carseat the next, etc. Helps you budget out those expenses a little and make it seem a little less overwhelming, you know?

at the end, around 8 months because you are going to get a lot of stuff at your baby shower. we waited to buy the crib, and i ended up getting the crib as a gift from my husband's aunt.

I say wait until 6 month, when the chances of baby staying alive after he/she is born is significantly higher.

I think most people say that after the first trimester its alright to start with serious plans.

Right after you find out if it is a boy or a girl.
