i think a lot of states wont let you work in healthcare if youre a felon, but im not positive on that. for misdemeanors it depends on the crime and how long ago it was, it doesnt have to be spotless though

The key is to be honest and upfront over the charges on your record upfront.
Certain convictions can prevent you from being licensed as a Registered Nurse, while others have to be explained to the State Board and they will determine whether or not they would prevent you from being licensed.
Contact your State Board of Nursing and speak with someone there about your past problems. Most likely if they are misdemeanors you won't have a problem - but be honest and be proactive.

Just because you graduate from a nursing program does not mean you will get to be an RN, which is a license process.

Many states do background checks on you before they will issue you an RN license. You have to check with each states Board of Nursing. Some will not issue you a license if you ever were convicted on a drug charge involving narcotics.
