Just wondering... well has been floating around my mind but 'Who invented the rockers' eyeliner look?'??

With beehive hairdos and dark eyeliner, the 1960s girl group the Ronettes (Estelle Bennett, Ronnie Spector, Nedra Talley) achieved their greatest success with producer Phil Spector and his "wall of sound" style.
Started with the ladies, but I think Alice cooper started the whole rocker eyeliner thing with the men... ... well, thought about it some more. I think it is a toss up between cooper and david bowie, though it really depends on what kind of rock. Bowie was more glam rock and cooper is solid rock. I don't remeber the Sex Pistols having eyeliner, but if they did that would also date them about mid 70's. The lady punks were already making the fashion statement at that time... so hmmm. good question...
Edit: OMG Good Charlotte??? You need to check out your musical heritage gal! Cooper did that first deliberately smearing it way back in the 70's

I was gonna say Benji Madden from Good Charlotte started the eyeliner rock look...then alot of others got into it. But i can't be so sure benji did...maybe some other famous rocker did, and it wasn't benji...but benjis look sure came into style with the eyeliner down the eyes looking like you were crying with eyeliner smearing down your face. The look pretty much still rocks!

I just wanted to answer and say I agree completely with the other people so far- I love whoever started the eyeliner thing for girls and guys! Oh, I wish I knew who it was now... the world may never know. I think it's impossible to track :)

rocker is not a style hon. but the eyeliner thing, not sure.....but im glad they did!!!!
