If you assaulted someone, it's a crime. The store security can hold you until the police arrive. It's not kidnapping. You committed a crime and the authorities were called.

Perhaps you need some anger management class. Confronting people (especially those in authority) in an aggressive manner is not helping anything. You are making things worse for yourself. You are not helping the employees, either. Making a scene is probably one of the worse things you can do.

The managers have to make the store a safe place for everyone. If you are getting into the faces of the managers and other employees, the police are going to be called.

Seek out some help.

I can assure you I get stared at almost everywhere I go. And though most people have no problem I have had people go as far as to grab their children when they see me coming, like I will kidnap them just because I am Muslim and dress as such. I have had store clerks and managers treat me with cold hatred in their eyes. But I will never confront these people with anything other than a smile.

You have to understand that by spitting on someone you are letting them drag YOU DOWN, and actually reinforcing that stereotype they have of you as angry and violent. And since bodily fluids are considered to be a toxic substance they might actually be able to jail you for assalt.

It is clear to everyone that they are in the wrong, when you behave in the most patient manner when they abuse you. They are trying to instigate problems. And by confronting them you are being controled by them. As for holding you, it is called a citizens arrest and it is legal when a crime has occured. Being rude is not a crime nor is staring at you. Spitting on someone is.

Be strong and don't let others drag you down. A stong man knows it is enough to know you are right. You don't need to prove it.

When yo spit on someone, that is an assault. The victim of your attack, or store security, have every right to hold you until the local police arrive. They may use whatever force is necessary to safely detain you, the aggressor. If you think all store employees are on a "power trip," perhaps you should seek a mental evaluation for yourself.

If you don't like the place, shop elsewhere. Boycott the store. Write a letter to your local newspaper. You can shout to the world you own personal opinions and experiences until you're blue in the face.

However, when you spit on an employee, you've just violated the law. They can call the cops. Security has the option to "temporarily detain" you until cops arrive, or just to talk down to you shortly.

Watch where you point the finger, you're just as big a factor in this problem due to your actions.

Why does your grocery shopping cause you so much emotional turmoil? It's FOOD SHOPPING for crying out loud. If you think a clerk or manager is treating someone with disrespect, you can contact the person above tham and make a formal complaint. You don't need to shed tears on your Rice-A-Roni every time you enter a Winn-Dixie. Calm down.

Please. Get a clue. You spit on someone. That is a crime, assault, consummated with a battery. They have the power and right--even as private citizens--to arrest and detain you until authorized officials arrive to really lay the slap down on you. Get real man; you have the right to spit, certainly. But that right ends where the other person's body begins.

With as much trouble as you have I would find someone else to do my shopping for me. Seriously, do you think every single store you enter has it out for you? Sounds like a touch of paranoia to me.
And no it would not kidnapping if they held you til the police arrived or a manager arrived.

If you spit on someone, that's a form of assault, and they can hold you until the police arrive to sort things out. If the employees and/or managers are treating you like you say they are, it is probably because of the way you are behaving toward them to begin with.

No. At worst, it would be false imprisonment. But for a prosecution for that to lie, it would have to be apparent that the store people were acting in an unjustified manner.
