Tool was one of a kind. You might like Evanescense. Their video "Call Me When You're Sober" is on now. The Deftones have been around I think linger than Tool, but they still kick it. Check out Atreyu, Funeral For A Friend, Inme. The one I might suggest that sounds most like Tool might be Life of Agony. You've probably never heard of most of these bands. These guys rock hard. A couple more bands I just thought of are Mushroom Head and Torsohorse.

Alice in Chains. If you want something with a bit more life but definitely with the same basic sound, Marilyn Manson. The album "Anti-Christ Superstar" has a lot of Tool sounds. I own Tool's "Anima" and I play those two one after the other.
