I'm starting a search for a tatto but mostly I find skulls, solar symbols or the Nuestra Señora de la Muerte. I don't want a crypt but a deity which symbolises transition, benevolent and whose symbol is aestetic. I can't find it in Northern mythology, Greek and Latin american. Any help is welcomed.

Egyptians have a lot of death deities, yet Anubis is really elegant and will be a nice tattoo :-).

Here is the info you may need to choose it:

Egyptian god of the dead, represented as a black jackal or dog, or as a man with the head of a dog or jackal. He was the guide of the dead as they made their way through the darkness of the underworld. As a patron of magic, it was believed he could foresee a persons destiny, in this role he was the announcer of death. God of orphans, travelers, and the lost.

PS:The site mentioned here does not give you a perfect picture but you can find it easily with a small search.

Most of my relationship to Gods and Goddesses has no face or name. There is no particular pantheon that is predominant in my faith. The concepts of masculine and feminine take on many aspects and characteristics for me. The Moon is my Lady, and is also representative of Artemis. Artemis protects my animals and touches the strong, independent part if my soul. Antlers and elk represent the masculine God. I wear a pendant of a stylized figure holding a moonstone aloft. This signifies my identification with the Divine feminine ( I AM a female...) with silver and moonstone and simple representation. I am just as capable of feeling Goddess in a round stone or God in a branched stick. I think that the ultimate representation of God and Goddess for me occurred when I lived at the edge of civilization, on seven acres bordering a river. A herd of elk often came to the property to bed down overnight and my cat would call me to go down into the meadow when the moon was bright. It was the most peaceful and spiritual surrounding that I have ever been in. It is how I experience God and Goddess best.

In Greek mythology there are many deities

Hades : God and king of the underworld and death

Persephone : Queen of the underworld Hades' wife

Thanatos : A winged god . He is the death (thanatos is "death" in Greek ).

Hecate : Goddess of witchcraft . She keeps 2 torches in her hands.

Charon : He passes the souls , with his boat , through the river of the underworld.

Harpies : 3 winged women, deities with feet and nails of eagle.

Another deity , but not deity of death, is the goddess of punishment NEMESIS.

Perhaps this recommendation is too simplistic but, instead a death deity, of which there are many, how about a bird (seagull) in flight...a symbol of ultimate freedom, therefore death and renewal.

In Hindu mythology, Brahma is god of creation, Vishnu is
god of sustenance, and Siva is god of annihilation.

Though annihilation means death in its generic meaning,
Siva stands for the higher meaning of annihilation of ego
and transition to higher knowledge. Lingam is the symbol
of Siva.
