Yes. At worst, it just means they won't count the credits for that class. A lot of schools will count a D grade though. So, mainly it just drags your GPA down some.

No. It's not a good grade, especially if you want to pursue a post graduate degree. However, you did receive credit for the course, so it's not a total failure. The congratulations was probably on completing your first year of college. About 50% of kids who start college end up dropping out/failing out, so the fact that you passed all your classes is something to be proud of, but only for the first year. After that, it's really unacceptable to get C's.

This really depends on what class it is. Typically, you can get a D and move on. However, some schools have exceptions to this. When I was getting my BA at Purdue, I had to write my senior paper and had to get a C or above in the class. I got a B luckily. Email your advisor for specific answers since they usually know best about these things. Also, don't be surprised when you're a senior and they spring some bs on you about having to take an extra 3 credits over the summer to graduate. It happens.

Getting one or two D's won't fail you out of college. If your GPA is a D... you won't fail out of college. You have to look at your course description too. Some of my classes you have to get a C or better to have it credited... I won't sweat it much if you end up getting that one D in a class. But I would do my best to bring it up.

You may gradute with a grade of D in a course or two. BUT it is not recommended. In most schools you can retake the course and the D disappears. Did you have the opportunity to take it pass/not pass?
Most colleges you have to have a GPA of 2.2 or more.
