A mother that lives forever,
But unless this world becomes clever,
And learns how to care,
'bout our landscapes and air,
This mother, one day, will be never.

Robert, what is much more important is that the poem be written stylishly, i.e. that it uses syntax, rhetorical figures, diction, imagery, etc. in imaginative ways... but surely you know that. However, I tend to think that the poet must consciously choose the form for a reason, just as he employs the other aforementioned elements. It is the juxtaposition of all these things that is the source of the poem's information content, and generally more information is a good thing. That is why I harp so on learning the elements of poetry, and why I so despise the crowd that describe poetry as 'bleeding on the page,' as if their emoting alone should be so fascinating to other people that we should swoon just to be in their presence. Well I'm sorry, but I for one am no adolescent and I like to think, so bring on the information, heap it high, make me think, and you will then be a poet I want to read... a poet like Robert Harrison.

One With Nature, As Life Slips Away...
Life, is like the coming and going
of an oceans tide. At each days end,
the tide, life, recedes and only a portion
returns the next day. Until finally, the
last of life recedes into a foggy mist,
that disappears into the light that
is hope.

A poem for school Britt had to write,
But her ideas and motivation were nowhere in sight.
So she logged onto Yahoo to plead the masses,
To do her work for one of her classes.
She may get good feedback, but her patience it will cost,
When she could have simply run a search on "Robert Frost."

Bushes, plants, trees and leaves,
Ants, beetles, flies and bee's.
Forests, jungles, deserts, sea's
Snowy cliffs, cool deep breeze.
Water flows, and bright blue skies,
Broken rocks, mountains rise.
Dark rich soil, seeds arise,
Ancient tree's, strong and wise!
Best I could do without a thesauras!
