Solve "x" ..... 3/4 = x/84

First: eliminate the fractions - multiply the denominators with each term.

(4)(84)(3/4) = (4)(84)(x/84)

SEc: cross cancel "like" terms & combine the remaining terms.

(84)(3) = (4)(x)

252 = 4x

Or, the equation can also be written as....

4x = 252

Third: isolate "x" on one side - divide both terms by 4.

4x/4 = 252/4

x = 252/4

x = 63

giving you 4x=252
x=63

which is intuitively correct, if you simply divide 84 by 4 you get 21, multiply this by 3 and you get 63

ah, let's see!
First isolate x by multiplying both sides by 84
(84)*3/4=x/84*84
which reduces to
84*3/4=x
252/4=x
63=x
