Are they canceling stargate? Why? and if they are is there a petition or something to save it?

Sadly, Stargate will end after the rest of this season airs. There has been a green-light from MGM to do two direct to DVD movies though, so at least we will have though.
10 seasons is a very good run for a show, amazing for a sci-fi show. But for some reason, it feels like 10 seasons doesn't even begin to scratch the surface.
Also in talks is another spin-off. Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) has stated that he does not want to end his Stargate run, so maybe there will be talks with him in this lead.

Yes, Stargate SG-1 is being cancelled. I read somewhere (sorry, couldn't find the article) it was mostly because it was becoming too expensive to produce (actors' salaries), not because it was losing viewers. There're going to be movies though.
