I think it is a bit foolish. If I was having chest pains or other serious problem, I wouldn't sit down at my computer and write to you guys asking what I should do!

I also don't understand why people ask questions that could be more easily answered by entering a word or two into their Yahoo or Google search engine. Wikipedia has information on just about everything under the sun and I consult it all the time for my info.

Well, I happen to be someone who asked a medical procedure question right here on this site....Let me tell you, you would be very surprised what professions people are in that are on this site.(nurses or hospital workers on graveyard shift, slow night perhaps)... I got quite a few answers, and lo and behold, one that was exactly what it was! Right down to the terminology! They said they worked in that field, and what I was having happen from my surgical procedure wasn't a rare thing where they worked.(I was going to the doctor the next day, and it was exactly what they said)...I do think it depends on what the content of the question is....Like, "I have a lump under my arm, what is it", that has to be answered by a doctor....But, "I broke my arm, and its in a cast, will it hurt when it comes off", well, the probability that SOMEONE has had that happen is not rare, so in general, there could be lots of people who could answer the second question.....Asking "Medical" questions here instead of seeking a doctor, is somewhat foolish, Doctors surely don't spend time here....The ridiculous questions like what you wrote, are probably attention seekers.....But the ones that irritate me the most are, "If I had sex only twice, or upside down, or whatever, am I pregnant?" oh, those just make me roll my eyes...If you have to ask that, you don't need to be having sex!

omg i was just thinking that! why dont people ever think to go to a doctor like immediately for some of these problems. i've read questions that sound like the person is having a heart attack and instead of calling 911, they log themselves on to answers.yahoo.com and ask a buch of random people what they think might be wrong. i just dont get it!

No. I never would have been able to get breat implants installed in my neighbor's garage for only $99.99 if it weren't for the good people at yahoo answers.
