Her and I are both single, successful women; she has a child whom I love dearly but now she's gotten her child to ask me why I don't want to be married or have kids? She had a nasty divorce, worse than mine, and I just can't understand why she's so insistent I be a mother when I've told her plainly I don't want to be. How on earth do I handle this without possibly alienating her?

tell her plainly your happy the way you are and have no intentions of starting a family.
its not something you want to be forced into, it is the biggest commitment you could ever make and could end uo the biggest mistake, so let her know you are happy with your life the way it is and to lay off!!

Or, she may sincerely think you're missing something. Let her know you appreciate being close to her and her child, and you enjoy having access to company with her child, but you haven't had the 'urge' yet.

It means she's jealous of you. She doesn't have the freedom you have and she envies you and would like to see you in her position. Just tell her you can't for some medical reason. It may not be totally truthful but at least she'll stop bugging you about it.

god i hate that i et it all the time cause my friends have kids they all ask me when im going to have them when im just not ready yet i hate people putting pressure on me i usually tell them to bugger off and mind there own

TELL HER YOU DONT WANT TO HAVE ANY KIDS. that when u meet the ight guy, u'll get married and hav kids that hav the blood of u and ur loving husband. she shouldnt be pressurin u to hav kids, when the first step is finding the right guy. tell her that and she'll leave u alone. best of luck.

it sounds to me like she regrets having kids herself and wants your life and thinks if your life was as screwed up as hers things would seem better don't have children until you are ready to
