I'm 16 weeks pregnant and I believe that second trimester. They said morning sickness should go away once I hit the second trimester. It's not and I feel so sick right now. What can I do to make it go away or atleast to ease it.

I vomited for 7 months. And I mean vomited big time, I couldn't even hold down a banana. The only thing that stayed down was deep fried chicken wings, but I couldn't cook them myself because that made me ill too!

The myth is that sickness always goes after 12 weeks, well "they" (whoever "they" is) are wrong. Not every time!

Apparently it is the same hormone that stops you from miscarrying that gives you the sick feeling, so that is something positive to think, even if it's an old wives tale it may keep you going!

Keep an eye on it, if you are becoming very dehydrated the doc may want to hospitalise you for some time, but other than that just make sure you try to eat well and drink plenty of water.

If you suffer from dehydration then call your doctor and ask for advice, they may wish to hospitalise you to ensure you are receiving fluids if necessary. This is not something to be scared of, and should be looked at as a good excuse to rest before baby is here! There is a link below to the symptoms of dehydration.

Find food you *can* hold down and stick to mainly those, even if you feel like poo, and they're not that healthy, at least you will be getting calories and some sort of goodness from them.

I found ginger biscuits by the bed to eat before getting up helped, ginger is a good anti-emetic (anti-sickness), and I used to eat Jamaican Ginger Cake after evening meal too (any excuse to eat cake!).

You can ask a homeopathist about natural remedies if you like, I used Nux. Vom. which is anti-emetic, and can be bought over the counter in pharmacies.

You have my sympathies...

I had the morning sickness all day long for the duration of both pregnancies. It did ease up a little, but I was extremely sensitive to smells. I couldn't stand anything smoky, including smoked meats and cigarettes. My husband had to hide from me to eat ham. I could tolerate pretty much nothing but cold sandwiches and chocolate milk for weeks at a time.

Find the foods you can tolerate, and eat small amounts at a time. Try not to go hungry for too long. That makes you sick. Try to avoid any situations that trigger you. Sometimes when strong smells got to me, stepping outside for a breath of fresh air helped.

Good luck! You're halfway through!

I wish I knew the answer. I am 23 weeks pregnant and I still have mine :( Some people are just lucky and it goes away before 3 months some people have it the whole time, some people have it 7 months, some less. It's different for everyone so just wait. It may go away eventually.

Some women are so sensitive to hormone changes that they stay sick through-out the entire pregnancy. I was pretty sick up until my 15th week. I ate a lot of sour foods and that seemed to help me: grapes, kiwi, sour candy.

Note they said it SHOULD go away...they didn't give any guarantees that it WOULD go away by the 2nd triemester. Try munching on saltine crackers and weak tea.
