I believe it is the Island nation of Brunei in the South Pacific. Unless you count Vatican City. Technically they are the richest with all the wealth of the Catholic church at their disposal,, but I don't believe that Counts.

in terms of GDP america although if the EU continues towards political and economic union the the EU will be the richest country
