I am about 3 weeks pregnant and I have a large blue hard lump on my outter thigh. Could this be a blood clot? I don't think it is a bruise because I have not hit my leg and this is very hard and painful.

DVT forms in the main vessles of the leg , these run along the medial inside aspect of the leg , not the lateral outer aspect . Also , they are far more coommonly found behnid the knee and into the calf .

What it sounds like you have is a vericose vein . Welcome to motherhood!! Your legs will never look then same * laughs a bit* The stress of pregnancy sometimes causes the superficial veins in the leg to form little vericosities , or tributaries . there are superficial , and just under the skin and can be very painful .

If the area becomes hot to the touch , forms a red " halo" , or the swelling becomes worse give your Doc a call.....

Charlie horses are kind of common in pregnancy, but being pregnant does put you at risk for a clot. The pain from a clot won't just go away, but you certainly should mention this to your OB. If you do have pain in a leg with redness or hotness, or a cramp like pain that does not go away, call the OB immediately.

If you think you have a blood clot in your leg this is very serious and you need to be seen by a doctor right away. Clots in legs and travel from the leg to the heart and cause death.

Blood clots in the leg usually originate in the calf.....a blood clot will be very very painful (some people find it hard to walk) and the surrounding area will be very red and very hot to the touch....If you are very concerned see your DR. but it doesnt sound like a clot...Good Luck!
