Check out Storm Large and the Balls
They're from Oregon.
They're not exactly metal or even hardcore but they rock. Tons of enegry and Storm has a voice like a freight train.

There is a band called Paramore, but they are pop punk. There is a band called Flyleaf, too. Both of them are two of my favorite bands. Shiny Toy Guns is also a good one if you like electronica. Also, The Sounds, but once again, they are sort of pop punk.
